Giving birth to one baby seems to be enough for one parent, but for others, they are blessed with the miracle of giving birth to twins. In today's world, it seems that more and more women are giving birth to twins. It is said that the chance of having twins is 1 in 80.
There are many twins who have come to the fore in ancient times and in the present world and have left their mark on history. Some of these twins you've definitely heard of, while others may not be as prominent in your mind. In any case, all of these twins made some kind of impact on the world.
5. Jacob and Esau
They may be the first born twins, if not the most famous of all twins. The twins were the children of Isaac and Rebekah. Rebekah could not conceive until she was blessed by God. Esau was the firstborn and therefore in line to receive the bulk of the inheritance. Esau, unlike his wise brother Jacob, did not prioritize intelligence and traded his birthright for soup. It was an expensive meal to be sure. Jacob tricked their blind father into blessing him instead of Esau. Not the most caring brother, but eventually he had a dream where God spoke to him and followed the Lord. He had 12 sons and they named him Israel. His sons became known as the "12 tribes of Israel".
4. Kray Brothers
These twins are undoubtedly the most famous of the list. The Kray Brothers were known as organized crime in London's East End in the 1950s and 1960s. Suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, Ronnie and Reginald led a violent life, often engaging in arson, torture, assaults, armed robberies, and killing many, including George Cornell and Jack McVitie. Despite their violent and rough natures, the twins spent time with very famous entertainers such as Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra. In 1968, the twins were arrested and sentenced to life in prison, and both have since died.
3.Romulus and Remus
In ancient Roman mythology, Romulus and Remus were twin brothers born to the Vestal Virgin Rhea Silvia and Mars, the god of war. As was common practice in Rome at the time, the two boys were abandoned in a remote location because they were unwanted. In time, the two were found by a she-wolf, who looked after them as a mother to the boys. After growing up, the couple founded the great City of Rome, which soon became a flourishing empire. However, the twin boys soon quarrel over the land, and in the end Remus is killed by Romulus, which probably provides the reason why Rome is named as it is.
2. Apollo and Artemis
Apollo and Artemis, the son and daughter of Leto and Zeus, are two very important and famous figures in Greek mythology. They are twins and were born on the island of Delos. Artemis is said to be the most Greek of all the gods. He is a musician and is usually seen with a golden lyre. He wields the silver bow and teaches medicine and healing, and is also the god of light and truth. Artemis is his sister, the goddess of wild things, including the hunt. She is a virgin goddess and goddess of childbirth because Leto felt no pain when she gave birth to her. However, he is also a warrior who wants revenge.
1. Ronde and Tiki Barber
Maybe athletics run in the family, at least that's how it seems with identical twins Ronde and Tiki Barber. At one point, both men were professional football players in the NFL and both did some sort of broadcasting.
The twins rose to prominence after starting their careers in the NFL and continue to have a huge impact on society and football fans today. Ronde is a correspondent for the Today Show, and Tiki spends time as a sports broadcaster. Not many twins have such similar career paths!
