As an owner of three salons, I can tell you with certainty that managing drama in our salon business in 2022 will be key to our success or failure. In fact, we have been trying different things the last few years and have slowly seen it get worse and worse. We’ve decided to take action so we don’t lose any more money or our sanity! Here are some things that we are doing to manage the drama in our salon business in 2022!


Why is drama causing drama?

The root cause of most drama is fear. Fear of not being good enough, fear of being rejected, and fear of being alone are some of the most common fears that fuel drama. When we're afraid, we tend to either fight or flight. And when we're in fight mode, we're more likely to lash out and say or do things we later regret. We might also find ourselves criticizing people for who they are. It's important to remember that many of these reactions come from a place of fear, not self-love. By taking a moment to be present with your feelings and acknowledging them without judgment, you can respond from a place of self-love instead.

In any business, there are bound to be a few disagreements here and there. It's how you handle them that really counts. Here are 9 tips to help you manage the noise of drama in your salon business 1) Don't stop at one meeting to address an issue; schedule regular meetings for employees so everyone can voice their concerns about what needs to change 

2) Keep employees updated on progress through regular email updates, or by making an announcement during staff meetings 

3) Create a positive environment where people feel safe enough to speak up about potential issues 

4) Make sure everyone is on the same page before implementing changes.


Are you making yourself less available?

It's important to be clear about what we expect from our clients and to enforce these expectations. When we make ourselves less available, we create an environment that is more conducive to peace and calm. Be Grateful For What You Do Have In Life

The first step to managing drama is to be grateful for what you do have in life. It's easy to get caught up in the negative and forget about all of the positive things we have going for us. When we're grateful, we're more likely to see the good in others and be more forgiving when they make mistakes. Remember That You Have To Walk In Their Shoes: We can't know what it feels like to walk in someone else's shoes unless we've walked in them ourselves. Be kind and show empathy even if their situation seems easier than yours or their issues seem less important than yours. There may be a different story on the other side of the coin that you are not aware of that led them to this place. There are times when people will try to use your own struggles against you, but remember that you're not alone. What helped me was realizing I am human and I'm entitled to my feelings just as much as everyone else is. Sometimes people need to hit rock bottom before they realize how important family, friends, and community are in our lives. At some point we need to take care of ourselves so we can take care of others who need us most.
